I fell into the estate agency business about 30 years ago by chance and have loved it ever since. Most of my career has been spent in Belgravia, with brief spells in Kensington, South Kensington and Chelsea.

It has been a time of enormous change, with leasehold reform transforming a type of tenure that goes back to medieval times.

As a result, Belgravia has become especially sought after. Aesthetically it has always been one of the most beautiful areas, but the fact that most of the properties were leasehold put off a large number of prospective purchasers, who preferred areas where long leases and freeholds were more readily available. Since the various changes in the Law, Belgravia has seen its popularity soar.

I feel very fortunate to be based here in Belgravia and coming here every day is still an absolute pleasure.

On a day-to-day basis, we deal with all sorts of property sales and lettings and are often involved with some very high-end sales and acquisitions. Last year we sold properties with an aggregate sales value of £100million, ranging from a small short leasehold flat at £375,000 to a vast apartment in Eaton Square at £25million.

This year, we have just sold an unmodernised house for a tad under £45million, an indication of the global popularity of Belgravia property.

I still thoroughly enjoy what I do and I devote a large amount of time to my business, however when not at work, I spend my spare time with my long-suffering wife and children.

Most Memorable Deal: Acquiring the Grade II listed Forbes House for a client. It is probably one of the most iconic houses in London built in 1811 with a carriage driveway and sits on an acre plot just off Belgrave Square. The house extended to 37,600 sq ft and the asking price was £75million.
