A busy start to the New Year for WQ…

First and foremost, we would like to wish our readers, clients, applicants and friends a very happy and prosperous start to the New Year.

Christmas is a notoriously quiet time in the residential London market and indeed it was for us at Wellbelove Quested. However, just before we broke up for the festive period, there was a flurry of activity on a beautiful family home we had been marketing on the much-admired Gerald Road, in the heart of Belgravia.

After a positive first viewing two days before Christmas, Andrew and Grant successfully tied up the deal on Boxing Day when most people were undoubtedly donning festive hats and sitting down enjoying a hearty lunch. The deal was agreed in THREE days and all parties were delighted with the outcome. What a superb way to kick start 2014.

This is just one benefit of dealing with independent property companies such as Wellbelove Quested. Unlike the larger chains, our clients are able to deal directly with the partners no matter the time, place or day resulting in discussions and deals being carried out most expeditiously to the benefit of both buyer and vendor.

The elegant Grade II listed freehold house with garden to the rear is very typical of the Belgravia build and Gerald Road with it’s sleepy location and added benefit of being a one-way street commands high prices with the properties on average being sold at circa £2,000 per square foot.

Like most other streets in Central London, Gerald Road has a rather flamboyant history. Originally known as Cottage Row (which is a slight understatement given the grand abodes found there) in 1846 it became home to the Belgravia Police Station and nearly 40 years later had its name changed to Gerald Road. After a successful stint protecting the local residents and housing infamous criminals such as Lord Lucan and Ronnie Biggs, the police station upped tools and moved to a purpose built destination in 1993. The building was renovated and converted back into a house with a plaque and very unique bollard being placed outside, acting as a historical aide memoire to those passing.
